Product Overview
Protect damaged vehicles from weather, debris, and further deterioration with Detail Direct's professional-grade self-adhesive windshield collision wrap. Our best-selling 3 mil clear crash wrap is the trusted solution for auto body shops, collision centers, towing companies, and salvage yards across the United States.
This coextruded self-adhering plastic film features a high-tack, water-based acrylic adhesive that bonds securely to glass, metal, and plastic surfaces—even on dirty vehicles. The transparent film allows for safe vehicle operation while providing complete protection from rain, wind, snow, sand, dust, and other elements during repairs.
Our 36" x 200' rolls are the most economical choice when large quantities of collision wrap are required. When purchasing longer rolls, you benefit from discounted pricing plus shipping cost savings—one larger roll requires only one box versus two individual rolls requiring separate boxes.

Why Choose Detail Direct Collision Wrap?
Coextruded Multi-Layer Construction
Our coextruded (COEX) film is constructed from multiple layers laminated together for maximum strength, durability, and puncture-resistance. Competing monolayer products constructed from just 1 layer are inferior to coextruded films and more prone to tearing during application.
Superior Adhesive Technology
We manufacture our film with an environmentally friendly water-based acrylic "cross-linked" adhesive that is anchored into the film—not just laid on top like competing products. This manufacturing process ensures strong adhesion to vehicles without leaving adhesive residue behind when removed.
Best-Selling Professional Choice
This is our best-selling collision wrap because it delivers the perfect balance of strength, adhesion, clarity, and value. Trusted by thousands of professionals nationwide for reliable performance job after job.

How to Apply Self-Adhesive Collision Wrap
Before You Begin
- Tools needed: Utility knife or sharp blade
- Best results: Clean and dry surface (though high-tack adhesive will bond to dirty surfaces)
- Application: One person can easily apply this film
Step-by-Step Application Instructions
Step 1: Assess the Damage
Determine the size of the area needing coverage. If damage is wider than the 36" roll width, plan to apply overlapping rows.
Step 2: Pull One End to Start
Unroll enough wrap to cover the damaged area with 3-4 inches of overlap on all edges. The film is not perforated—quickly cut to size with a utility knife or sharp blade.
Step 3: Position and Apply
Starting from one edge, position the film over the damaged area. The high-tack self-adhering adhesive on one side securely holds the film in place. Press firmly, smoothing out air bubbles as you work across the surface.
Step 4: Overlap for Wide Areas
If the damage is wider than the roll width, start at the bottom section of the damaged area. Apply the wrap as directed above. Then start a new row at the beginning of the first one, overlapping by a few inches for complete coverage.
Step 5: Seal All Edges
Ensure all edges are pressed down firmly to create a weather-tight seal and prevent wind lift.
Step 6: Trim Excess
Cut away any excess material for a clean, professional appearance.
Removal Instructions
Pull one end to start. Remove it completely with little effort. The water-based acrylic adhesive is designed for clean removal and does not leave glue residue behind when used within the 90-day rating period.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between coextruded and monolayer film?
A: Coextruded (COEX) film is constructed from multiple layers laminated together for maximum strength, durability, and puncture-resistance. Competing monolayer products which are constructed from only 1 layer are inferior to coextruded films and tear more easily during application and use.
Q: How long will this collision wrap stay in place?
A: Our film is rated for up to 3 months (90 days) of use. The wrap stays in place until the auto body shop or collision center has repaired the damaged windshield or until you remove it.
Q: Can I drive a vehicle with this collision wrap applied?
A: Yes! This is a clear film that is transparent with a good enough level of visibility that a vehicle can be driven until it is repaired. The clear film is advantageous when you need to see into or out of the vehicle.
Q: Will this work on dirty vehicles?
A: Yes. This film features a high-tack adhesive that works well for auto body shops and collision centers and is strong enough to adhere to dirty cars for use by towing companies and salvage yards. However, it adheres best for a longer-lasting hold to clean and dry surfaces.
Q: Does the adhesive leave residue behind?
A: No. Our film is manufactured with an environmentally friendly water-based acrylic "cross-linked" adhesive that is anchored into the film, so that the film stays in place yet can be easily removed without leaving any residue behind when used within the rated period.
Q: What makes the adhesive environmentally friendly?
A: We use a water-based acrylic adhesive system rather than solvent-based adhesives. Water-based adhesives have lower VOC emissions and reduced environmental impact while still delivering professional-grade performance.
Q: How is this different from car transport wrap?
A: Collision wrap is designed for temporary coverage of damaged areas (broken glass, sprung doors) with high-tack adhesive for dirty surfaces. Car transport wrap is used to protect pristine painted surfaces during vehicle transportation and uses a different adhesive formulation designed for paint protection.
Q: Is this film perforated for easy tearing?
A: No, this is a non-perforated film. Quickly cut the roll to the desired size with a utility knife or sharp blade. Non-perforated film provides more flexibility in sizing and creates better seals.
Q: Can one person apply this film?
A: Yes! One-person application. The film is easy to handle and the self-adhesive backing means no additional tapes or fasteners are needed.
Q: What surfaces does this adhere to?
A: The film adheres to glass, metal, plastic, and painted surfaces commonly found on vehicle exteriors and interiors. It seals broken windshields, windows, and sprung doors effectively.
Q: Why choose the 36" x 200' size?
A: Our 36" x 200' rolls are the most economical choice when a large quantity of collision wrap is required. You get discounted per-foot pricing plus shipping cost savings—one larger roll requires only one box, as opposed to shipping two individual 100' rolls which each require their own box.
Q: What is Detail Direct's return policy?
A: Contact our customer service team at 800-910-9170 for return policy details and assistance.
